Kandros Mugabe coughs out money to win Kwekwe Central

Kwekwe Central has proved again to be a very hot seat, which needs someone of nerves of steel and a thick skin of an elephant. Kandros Mugabe is already showing signs of tear and wear, and is limping after kicking stumps, hurdles, deflated balls and jumping over high flaming walls of political games within Zanu PF. But he is huffing and puffing and fast losing steam as the General Elections race begins in earnest. It is slowly unfolding that Kandros Mugabe is not Zanu PF favourite as he is ducking brick bates thrown at him from what he terms “political jealous” from within Zanu PF distracters, who are fighting to see that he does not rise from the political wilderness he has been, after his suspension and readmission into the ruling party not so long ago. At a recent meeting held at Kwekwe Police Main Camp, Kandros received his first baptism of internal party backlash when he was not introduced to party supporters despite winning Kwekwe Central Constituency primary elections. The Party leadership present did not flinch a muscle as they introduced party leadership present, proving that Kandros is not popular with local party leadership, casting doubts on his candidature of Member of Parliament material. He is being accused of vote buying tactics and splashing cash during his political meetings in order to spruce up his political image which is receiving a hard knock each time he goes into election campaign in order to seek political relevance and dominance. Since winning the primaries, Kandros has held meetings in Kwekwe Central to gun for support as he dished out money for projects, but is facing ‘voter resistance’ from Kwekwe Central constituency.

“Kandros Mugabe is not a known in political leadership circles in local Zanu PF structures in Kwekwe despite winning the primaries. He should revisit his political acumen and strategies. He has a tall order to win support from within Zanu PF leadership, let alone Zanu PF supporters. His political support base in only concentrated within his church and it is waning rapidly. He must claw back and redefine himself. Money will not win him an election. He will not make it come General Election in July – August 2018”, said a Zanu PF insider.

The insider further stated that Mugabe is a novice in accordance to Zanu PF leadership local structures and is likely to be trounced in the watershed elections, in which he will face stiff competition from MDC Alliance and Masango Matambanadzo, who is rumored to have crossed the floor to former President Robert Mugabe backed party National Patriotic Front (NPF), Matambanadzo was disqualified from contesting in the Zanu PF primary elections amidst allegations of links to NPF.

Kwekwe Central constituency is known to be a hot seat and is getting hotter as the General Elections draw nearer. But will Kandros pull a shocker and win the seat?

“It remains to be seen, but one thing for sure is that Kandros needs to improve his campaigning strategy which is hinged on rolling out funding for projects. These allegations of vote buying are fast chewing into his political integrity and self esteem. He has a lot to learn and he must learn fast time is fast running out and chances of grabbing the hot seat are getting slimmer, elusive and remote by the day”, summed up a lawyer in Kwekwe. When Chat Reporter Online crew visited his home cum office, he retorted through his security that he was too ‘tired’ to be interviewed.
