Blackman Weeps

The former Member of Parliament (MP) for Mbizo constituency Kwekwe Masango
Matambanadzo wept addressing vendors and his supporters soon after his release from police
custody in Kwekwe CBD.
Matambanadzo cried as he was addressing his supporters who were celebrating his release
police custody after spending two days behind bars.
He thanked his supporters for standing by him when he was in remand prison and during the
court hearing.
“I would like to thank each and everyone of you for standing by me during these trying times,
your prayers have been answered I have been released from police custody by the court.
“I was not supposed to be released but I have been released the matter has been removed
from remand.
“I would like you to join me in thanking the two lawyers Masawi and Mashanyare they
worked tirelessly for me to gain back my freedom because it was not easy, for the state
wanted me to stay behind bars,”
Matambanadzo could not control his tears as he was trying to express how touched he was by
the situation he was landed into.
“I was falsely accused of stealing maize, you all know that I always distribute maize to
people at funerals and any other events.
“How can I steal maize from the government when I used to give people my own maize free
of charge.
“I have worked on so many projects and ideas to make sure that people’s needs are addressed
in this city but someone just comes from nowhere to try to tarnish my image like that,” he
said whilst shedding tears.
Matambanadzo alluded that he is the one behind the idea of reopening of Lancashire Steel
and he convinced the government to pay ZISCO and Lanchashire Steel employees theirs
salaries.
“I convinced the government to pay ZISCO and Lancashire employees their salaries you all
know that they have not been receiving their salaries for about 10 years,”
